How it all started - James A. Wineman Founder and CEO looks back
"I was offered an early retirement from General Motors in 1991 and decided to accept it so that I could start Wineman Technology Inc. I felt that with the knowledge and experience I had acquired in the manufacturing engineering field that I could provide a valuable service in the areas of engineering and building of control systems, data acquisition systems, and test machines. I chose this business model because my education is in electrical and mechanical engineering and having over 35 years of experience in manufacturing engineering and management positions that encompassed this type of equipment.
The company has grown in size to 40-45 professional and skilled trades employees. Their areas of expertise include mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, programming engineering and skilled trades. I am very pleased with the technical capabilities of the employees and the can-do attitude that everyone shows.
The business focus for the last ten years has been on data acquisition systems, dynamometer systems, servo-hydraulics, real time controllers, HIL systems and general testing machines. Each project is a custom design and build which necessitates acquiring knowledge of the customer's product features and designing to their specifications of performance.
WTI has customers in the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Asia. They are in auto, off road vehicles, residential products, defense, and aerospace as well as in many others industries. In 2009 WTI was recognized by INC magazine for being one of the 5,000 fastest growing companies in America."
